Es una banda británica de rock formada en Manchester a principios de los años noventa. Estuvo compuesta originalmente por el vocalista Liam Gallagher, el guitarrista Paul Arthurs, el bajista Paul McGuigan y el baterista Tony McCarroll, bajo el nombre de The Rain. Noel Gallagher se incorporó posteriormente como guitarrista y compositor principal, adoptando el actual nombre de Oasis.
Musicalmente sus principales influencias han sido, según ellos mismos, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones y The Who. También han nombrado, entre otros, a The Stooges, The Kinks, The Smiths y Neil Young.
